Gathered in Bloom: Our Most Intimate Cookbook Club Yet

An intimate eight-person Vancouver Cookbook Club, inspired by Martha Stewart and styled with Blossom & Vine Floral Co, brought together thoughtful dishes, beautiful details, and meaningful connections.

On a beautiful spring evening, we hosted our most intentionally intimate Vancouver Cookbook Club—just eight guests gathered around one table—and somehow, it felt just as vibrant and full as an event with fifty.

This season, we partnered with Blossom & Vine Floral Co. to bring Martha Stewart Spring Table to life, an evening inspired by the original lifestyle icon who taught us that thoughtful details make all the difference. From the very beginning, we knew Blossom & Vine was the perfect partner. Having collaborated with them previously for a Holiday Swag Workshop, we’ve long admired Michelle’s impeccable eye for detail and her ability to transform any space into something truly special.

With only eight participants, the structure of the evening felt refreshingly simple. Each guest was assigned a course, and from there, they were free to explore—choosing any recipe from Martha Stewart’s cookbooks or online collection. The result was a beautifully curated yet deeply personal menu.

We began the evening with a Pineapple Cucumber Mint Seltzer: a vibrant, refreshing drink that set the tone for the night. And as always, our guests went above and beyond. Adina prepared a rich Wine-Braised Chicken, and thoughtfully made a second bacon-free version to accommodate dietary needs. Shelley plated her Carrot, Zucchini, and Leek Fritters individually, adding a refined, almost restaurant-like touch. Aryaa’s Berry Cake looked as though it came straight from a patisserie, almost too beautiful to cut into. Each dish felt like a celebration of the season: fresh, colourful, and made with care.

Meanwhile, Michelle worked her magic on the tablescape, weaving together soft spring hues and playful checkered patterns. In a serendipitous moment, the setting even matched Cynthia’s skirt—one of those small, delightful details that made the evening feel all the more intentional. Michelle even thoughtfully provided mini-bouquet bud vases with personalized name tags for each guest. As the sun set and candlelight filled the room, the space transformed into something warm, inviting, and quietly magical.

What made the evening truly special wasn’t just the food or the setting, it was the intimacy of it all. With only eight seats at the table, every conversation felt meaningful, every detail more noticeable, and every moment more shared (even made extra special from a visit from a tenant above). It was a reminder that gathering doesn’t have to be grand to be remarkable. Sometimes, the most memorable evenings are the simplest ones—where good food, thoughtful details, and genuine connection come together effortlessly.
