Cookbook: CHOOSE YOUR OWN

For our next Vancouver Cookbook Club, we’re calling back the sweet memories of cakes gone by. This July, it’s a cake club like no other. You’ll choose a cake recipe from your favourite cookbook—perhaps a light Strawberry Shortcake, a rich chocolate cake that reminds you of childhood celebrations, or an easy Chiffon that tastes like summer afternoons.

Whether you're showing off a family classic or trying something new, we can’t wait to see (and taste) what memories you bring to the table. No matter your baking background, there’s a place for your cake at our table.

One note to keep in mind: as we’ll be gathering outdoors in the July sun, ice cream cakes won’t hold up well, best to save those for cooler days!

When: Sunday, July 6, 2025

Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Where: Garden in front of Minoru Chapel (6540 Gilbert Road, Richmond)

HOW IT WORKS:

• We each will bring one homemade cake from your cookbook of choice. Please sign up for a dish in the through this form by Sunday, June 29

• If you’re bringing a guest, they would also need to RSVP AND bring a homemade cake. 

• Please do not send this link to anyone else as we have only sent out invitations to those who have filled in their Interest Form.

• On the day, we will gather, mingle, and try each other’s wonderful cakes! Light savoury snacks will be provided.

By purchasing a ticket and joining our Vancouver Cookbook Club, you agree to foster a respectful and welcoming environment for all participants.

Photography & Recording:

By attending the Event, you agree and understand that Vancouver Cookbook Club may photograph and or create videos of the Event and participants.  You agree that the Vancouver Cookbook Club may share and be the owner of and use such photographs and or videos relating to the promotion for future Events. You agree that no claim of any kind may be made against Vancouver Cookbook Club for any shared photographs from social media for photographs, videos, hashtags, publication or exhibition.

Food Safety Notice:

Attendees are responsible for their own dietary choices and any resulting health effects. If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, please exercise caution and ask about ingredients as needed. Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs carries a risk of foodborne illness. Hosts, participants, and the venue are not liable for any illness or reactions resulting from foods you choose to consume.

RSVP Policy:

Please RSVP only if you are certain you can attend. The event fee is non-refundable and non-transferable if you choose not to participate after registering.

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to sharing meals and memories with you!

Other notes:

• Please input your dish through the through this form. Make sure to purchase your ticket first before adding in your cake selection!

• Please bring your own cake stand, knife and cake server if you have one. Aesthetic ones are highly encouraged!

• Plates, utensils, and small boxes for leftovers will be provided.

• Please use your best judgment on portion size; a 6” round cake would be a minimum size!

• There is absolutely no pressure to create the perfect cake! If your cake does not turn out, feel free to still bring them and we can all talk about what we can do better next time!

• We encourage everyone to share your event highlights on Instagram and make sure to tag us!

We look forward to eating all the cake with you all! Calories don't count on this day!
